Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd, India’s largest utility vehicle manufacturer is looking for a home in U.S.This move is ahead of the official launch of Mahindra Pick Ups based on our very own Scorpio. The expected launch of their pick ups, widely known as Appalachian will hit by first quarter of 2010.
Mahindra is wants to be fool proof from all angles. No doubt Mahindra and Mahindra can offer good pick ups in U.S. market with terribly cheap price tag without much depreciation in quality. But recent law revisions ask for a import penalty to protect U.S. based automakers.Mahindra by purchasing a factory in U.S. can easily surpass this law while being within the law. This could be the primary motive behind purchasing a piece of land/factory in U.S.
"We are exploring various options," Mr.Pravin Shah, executive vice president of international operations,Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd, told reporters, also added that the acquisition of a facility would be the most economically feasible option.Mahindra is foreseeing America as their largest export market in near future. So having their own roof could give them benefits in long run.Mahindra is planning to invest nearly $100 million for their U.S business unit.So let us see how easy for Mahindra to choose a factory in U.S.
