Mahindra Thar

Thar, the sport utility vehicle from Mahindra and Mahindra is getting ready for home coming. So if you are an adventure loving motorist and searching back yards of garages for your dream machine, you may hit pause button for now.

Mahindra and Mahindra will be launching  Thar SUV by end of this year, ie end of Dec-10. Thar will be powered by a 2.5ltr Turbo charged diesel engine coupled with a five speed manual  transmission box. The engine can yield a maximum power output of 107 HP at peak. Only soft roof body style will be available and may be priced in the range of Rs. 5-5.5 lakhs. Mahindra Thar is already on sale in selected European markets (hard top version), there the vehicle manages to clock annual sales of 5,000 units.

The overall dimensions of Mahindra Thar are 3920 x 1710 x 1930 (Length x Width x Height). In European markets both two seats and four seats options are available. We are not sure about which variant will be coming to India. Official words from Mahindra are still awaited. Stay tuned to Wheelosphere for more updates.
