Mahindra Thar Off Roader Hits Europe

Mahindra Thar was recently previewed in  2010 New Delhi Auto Expo. Some of you might have got close glimpse of  this off roader from Indian utility vehicle major  Mahindra and Mahindra ltd. Mahindra Thar is  still remaining in dream of  Indian off road enthusiasts. But the story is different in Europe, Thar Hard Top version has been launched there with logical pricing.

With the launch of  Hard Top version of Mahindra Thar now the beginners from off track crowd got a perfect companion. Thar is expected to be a typical Mahindra breed, and will perform extremely well in adverse  field conditions. Mahindra Thar Hard Top is powered by a four cylinder 2.5ltr common rail direct injection engine. The expected power output at peak is 107hp. This engine is jointly developed by  AVL and Bosch.

The engine is coupled with  a five speed manual gear box. Mahindra Thar can  easily impress 4×4 lovers who don’t want shell out their hard earned money in gas guzzling machines. The suspension of Mahindra Thar hard is better than it’s earlier versions, thanks to independent  torsion bar mechanism in front and leaf spring and shock absorber combo in rear. Mahindra Thar team has been selected  a set of 16” wheels with 235/70 R16 tires which will do it’s duty well as an off roader

The basic dimensions of Hard top Mahindra Thar compact off roader are length 3920 mm, width 1710 mm, height 1930 mm. Thar comes in two variants, a 2 seater  and a 4-seater. The costing comes closer to 17,520 Euros and 17,760 Euros respectively. By this time in home country India too Thar has become a discussion topic among  4×4 lovers. We are not sure about the launch of Mahindra Thar in India.
