Mahindra to launch Maxximo at Auto Expo

India’s leading Utility vehicle maker Mahindra & Mahindra announced today that it would launch its mini truck, named Maxximo at the Auto Expo. The Maxximo will be made at the firm’s state of the art facility in Chakan and go head on against the highly successful Tata Ace and the lot.

It is expected to be powered by a 600-800cc diesel engine, possibly outsourced with gearbox provided by Kinetic Engineering (Nano’s gearbox also made by Kinetic Engineering). Priced similar to the Tata Ace, it will provide a higher payload capacity as compared to the Ace.

Also at the Auto Expo will be Mahindra’s entire range of vehicles from the small Gio to the highly customised versions of the Bolero and Scorpio. Mahindra’s 2 wheeler arm will also be putting up a strong show to take the 2-wheeler business forward.

“Mahindra will unveil its next generation mini truck, named Maxximo at the Auto Expo 2010, the first product to be rolled out of Mahindra’s new Chakan plant. Maxximo has been developed and designed on the basis of extensive customer feedback,” Mahindra & Mahindra President (Automotive Sector) Pawan Goenka said in a statement.

“Technology is the abiding theme of the Mahindra pavilion at the Auto Expo 2010. Mahindra’s fuel-efficient vehicles and state-of-the-art technologies will undoubtedly appeal to the international audience at the Expo,” it added.

Mahindra’s technology essentially means their start stop technology presently in use in the Scorpio and Bolero and their hybrid technologies that are under development. Dont forget to watch out for the Navistar range of trucks!
