Maruti To Launch Alto And WagonR With KB Series Engine

Maruti Alto is an evergreen product in Indian small car segment.After M-800, Alto is the top selling model of India’s people car manufacturer.WagonR though bit boring in design and styling point of view manages to clock decent sales figures consistently.Now those who are planning to buy either of these models have a reason to apply a hold on their plan for another six months.

Maruti is planning to launch Alto and WagonR with renowned KB-Series engine.The old engine variants will be phased out in due course of time.This step is to make all Maruti Suzuki  products conforming to BS-IV norms.In our last post we had said Maruti Suzuki SX4 VVT also got an engine transplant to meet above requirement.In a later stage Maruti’s other two hot selling products, DZire and Swift will also get these new series of engines.

KB-Series engine is familiar to Indian small car enthusiasts, we have seen these engines in last three Maruti product launches.A-Star was the debutant with  this engine.Probably this engine is the biggest advantage of A-Star and convinces customer to go for A-Star irrespective of  it’s notable disadvantages.Next we seen Ritz and New Estilo both with KB-Series heart and impressed us.The qualities of these engines are many,the most important is fuel economy,less emissions and improved drivability are worth mentioning.

Planting a more fuel efficient KB-Series engine will further improve the sale of Alto.WagonR will also  get much needed revival with this exercise.Sources say us Maruti Alto with KB-Series engine will hit market by end of this quarter and WagonR with KB-Series engine will reach dealership by next quarter.Recently we had seen many variants Alto came to market with minor changes and old F-Series engines.This could be a strong indication of upcoming Alto KB-Series.
