Maruti Suzuki announced an upward revision of prices of all their models citing steep increase in input prices. Though the price revision looks marginal, it was never an anticipated one, especially Maruti reported a slide in market share. The price revision is with immediate effect, that could be a small shock to those who were yet to make book their vehicle even though they selected a Maruti car.
Maruti’s official statement reads, “Due to a sharp increase in the input costs, Maruti Suzuki India has decided to pass on a part of this cost impact to customers” Also it adds, “The approximate price revision on various models (Ex Showroom, Delhi) ranges between Rs.2,000 and Rs.7,500. The price increase ranges between 1 per cent and 1.5 per cent”.
But one interesting point to be noted is, Maruti spared their best seller Alto from this spell of price hike. What does it mean? This week Maruti will launch their power packed Alto K10 in our market. So does Maruti want to clear their stock of old Alto and pull the curtain current Alto? Only Maruti can tell us.
