Maruti country’s largest car manufacturer planning to bring eco-friendly cars in India soon.Suzuki Motors Corporation(SMC) has developed a highly fuel efficient and low polluting compact car Thailand. This car easily delivers fuel economy in the range of 20km/ltr and emission as low as 120gms per kilometre.
“It fits well into our product mix and we could utilise the Indo-Thai trade pact to bring in components at low taxes, thus making the car price-competitive for Indian customers,” said Maruti Suzuki MD and CEO Shinzo Nakanishi.Recent amendments in Indo-Thailand trade pact allows Maruti to import car components from Thailand without much commercial implications. So that Maruti will be bringing this small car in CKD form.Even recently launched Toyota Fortuner is coming to India through this route.
Maruti Green Car could be based on 1.3ltr engine which complies Euro-IV standards and already a hit in Thailand. So let us see how Maruti make this strategic decision.
