Maruti Suzuki A-Star is one of the most efficient and cute small cars available, not to mention its sporty engine and handling. This small car is Suzuki’s world small car after the Swift and carries the tag of being the greenest car on sale in Germany. Maruti has just shipped 100,000th A-star/Alto to Europe in less than a year. That is an amazing figure.
Exported to 69 countries worldwide, Europe alone has accounted to 93,562 of those units. With its next-gen K-series engine, it is rated as Germany’s greenest Petrol car. The K-series is sold in Euro-V compliant form in Europe. The A-star is sold as the Suzuki Celerio in Chile, Angola, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Algeria and UAE, while it is sold as the Suzuki Alto in South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. This is Suzuki’s global car that is also exported with a Nissan badge as the Pixo. The Pixo has also been a great seller that Nissan has increased its orders from Maruti to buy more Pixos.
The A-star has boosted Maruti Suzuki exports in the April-November fiscal, to 91,731 units compared to 70,023 units last year. The Manesar plant in India is the only production centre for the A-star which was launched in India in November 2008.
