India’s automotive king Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch its medium sized sedan ‘Kizashi’ in the Indian market. Maruti Suzuki all these years has been known as small car specialists. This time the car maker is trying to transform its public image from car maker making small econo-boxes to a premium car maker. The car maker with this launch is all set to enter the D-segment where in its competitors are Honda Civic , Toyota Corolla Altis and Chevrolet Cruze.
The car according to our sources initially is gonna be a CBU (Completely Built Unit) like their Grand Vitara. As India being a mileage conscious country we feel that the engine is definitely going to be the 2.0 litre Petrol version which was previously doing its duty in the Grand Vitara. But Suzuki Kizashi’s international variant got a 2.4 litre version version as well, this engine may not be coming to Indian Kizashi’s. The build quality for the car is quite solid on both exteriors as well as the interiors its no more flimsy like the SX4 or the Swift, it feels premium in all the aspects. The most promising part of the car is that its offering Accord,Camry like features at the price of a Civic or a Corolla .
The price bracket is approximated to be within 14-16 lacs. But the major question which lies in our minds is that Maruti Suzuki all these years has never being able to sell its high end cars like the Grand Vitara despite of its various attempts in our market. All this is due to the Indian mindset as in the public is quite particular of the brand image when they purchase a premium car. Time is definitely going to show if the Indian public is ready shell out so much money for a Maruti Suzuki or they will remain loyal with the Honda’s and the Toyota’s. Fingers crossed till then.
Another interesting point is Toyota is planning to eat Maruti Suzuki Swift share in India with their Etios sedan and hatch launch, while Suzuki is aiming Toyota’s top end models. Stay with us for more updates.
