Maruti Suzuki Ritz was the most discussed Maruti car since last Auto Expo, held in New Delhi. As we informed before today Maruti launched their premium hatchback Ritz, initially Splash was the known name of today’s Maruti Suzuki Ritz. By launching Ritz with BSI-IV compliant engine,Maruti lifted the bar further for their competitors.

Maruti Ritz as expected now comes in both petrol and diesel versions. The petrol version is powered by Maruti’s latest K12M engine and diesel version is a surprise, the engine is 1.3ltr DDiS.Maruti places Ritz in A2 segment where they already rule the game. There is no doubt Ritz will eat into Swift’s pie in near future.
Maruti Suzuki Ritz Variants
Maruti launched Ritz in five variants, three petrol(LXi,VXi and ZXi) and two diesel(LDi and VDi) options.Ritz ZXi is the fully packed version including air bags and ABS while in VXi and VDi variants ABS is optional. All variants come with iCATS Immobilizer safety system as standard feature. The Ritz ZXi version comes with two tone instrument panel another first in this segment.

Maruti Suzuki Ritz (ex-showroom Delhi) has been priced between Rs.3.9lakh to Rs.4.8lakh in petrol variants and between Rs.4.65lakh to Rs.4.99lakh in deisel options. One must accept the fact Maruti has fully used the market intilligence gained before announcing the price tags.
Maruti Suzuki’s last major launch was A-Star,but unfortunately that couldn’t make Indian customers impress. This fact even a hard core Maruti fan will also accept.Ritz is already facing high competition from Swift,I20 and U-VA.Also Honda Jazz and Fiat Punto will join the fight soon. Now let us see how Ritz perform in A2 market segment.

Hi George, you are completely right in mentioning Maruti has studied the market well and priced the Ritz in a good range. Hyundai keeps making mistakes with its pricing.
The Ritz seems VFM and has good looks too. Only thing missing in the ZXI is the Auto Climate Control. Also the price diff between the VDI/VDI ABS and the VXI/VXI ABS is a little interesting as the difference for the diesels is 18K while that of the Petrols is 25K !!! Any idea why ?
Dear Sushil,
Thanks for commenting. The variation in pricing in same variants in diesel and petrol may be due to additional componets in fuel system of petrol engine.(This is a generic statement).Hope I will you let you know some more specific details later on.
