2012 Mercedes Benz A-Class hatchback was previewed during Shanghai Auto show in this April. Just weeks later a bunch of patent drawings of Merc’s A-Class have been leaked to web. The A-Class appears in patent drawings are not exciting as the concept we saw in China. Another important point to be noted is the drawings of the production ready version suggest a possible five door variant. In Shanghai Mercedes displayed a three door version of the new A-Class.
The new Mercedes A-Class hatchback looks more sportier than current version. A very familiar but attractive front fascia with prominent tri-star logo and slightly modified front bumper gives a distinctive look. The headlights and tail lamps have been redesigned and became wider. The roof line too has been modified in the production ready version.
Mercedes may plant a whole new range of engines under A-Class hatchback’s hood. The concept of new A-Class was fitted with a 2.0ltr 210HP engine with a new dual clutch transmission. Other latest technologies like Collision Prevention Assistant, Mercedes’ Comand infotainment system will be bundled with new A-Class.
Now it’s time to discuss about New Mercedes A-Class’s Indian connection. India has become a war field for luxury car manufacturers (especially for German manufacturers like BMW, Mercedes and Audi). BMW, Mercedes and Audi have been engaged in fierce battle to gain the supremacy in our market. As BMW is planning to launch their upcoming 1-series in India, Mercedes can not be remain as an onlooker. So we expect 2012 Mercedes A-Class in India after it’s international debut expected to happen in 2012. Launching A-Class with sensible price tag will be a crucial step for Mercedes India.
