The latest generation Mercedes C-class (code:W204) has been around since 2007 and it has been given its first subtle update to keep it fresh. While the car is yet to be officially unveiled, we have a few leaked images from the firm’s UK site. The bold styling of the present model remains albeit with few changes in the form of a new bumper, headlights and wheel designs. As with all modern Mercedes’, daytime running lights are integrated into the bumper.
With the overall fuel economy gaining importance, Mercedes will tweak its powertrains to gain that little bit extra and lower the average emissions of its fleet. Engine Start-Stop system is expected to be introduced with direct injection and turbocharging becoming standard across the range. Blue-Tec diesels will help meet the strict Californian emission norms. Mechanical changes are also expected to make the C the smoothest in its class.
Some subtle changes to the interiors are also expected with new trim materials and tweaks to the on-board electronics. What might come as a surprise is the C-class coupe, just like the E-class coupe. Expect the facelifted C-class in late 2010 in India with a minor price rise.
