Mercedes Benz has launched its armoured S-class in India named the S-Guard. The car is capable of withstanding ballistic and firearm attacks. The S-Guard also comes with a 5.5L V12 engine that quickly ferries its occupants from the place of mishap. If you need this battle tank, be prepared to shell out over Rs 6,00,00,000 (Rs 6 crore if you got lost in counting the zeros). That is only the Ex-showroom price in Delhi. The figure is likely to increase by a fair amount if you check a few options and accessories.
“This car is basically targeted at corporate and industry leaders, government officials and celebrities. We want to tap the growing market for armoured and protective vehicles in India,” Mercedes-Benz India member of the board of management Suhas Kadlaskar told reporters. He said the company has already received enquiries about the new car from prospective customers but refused to give details.
The S-guard is imported as a completely built unit from its plant in Germany and attracts huge duties. Kadlaskar also added that the exact price of the car will be decided once the first order comes and will depend on import duties and other specifications.
If you prefer a solid tank sans firepower, then this is it.
