MINI to debut in India in 2012

MINI, the BMW owned British marquee is all set to enter Indian market. The Bavarian automaker has confirmed their plans to bring a range of MINI cars to India by 2012. Though the product line up is yet to be frozen, we expect models like Mini One, One D, Cooper, Cooper SD  will be coming to India. Two prominent models, Countryman and the Clubman will not be coming to India (at least during initial phase).

MINI John Cooper Works

The official debut of MINI  range will happen during upcoming 2012 New Delhi Auto Expo. BMW will be utilizing their existing dealership network to sell and service their small car brand MINI. Company will be importing MINI’s from their plant in Oxford Shire, UK in Completely Built Unit form (CBU). So expect a hefty price tag. Company is expected to price MINI products in the range of Rs 20 lakh to Rs 25 lakh.

MINI will  lock horns with other lifestyle products like VW Beetle and Fiat 500. VW Beetle has been a run away success in India. Will MINI able to  repeat the success story here..?
