Scoop:- 2011 HM Ambassador spotted

New HM Ambassador

New HM Ambassador has been featured here in the past. We were forced to use our old Ambassador’s images  in  our posts. Thanks to Team-bhpian Kalinga, we have a set of spy images of upcoming 2011 HM Ambassador. Though HM officials were  reassuring that our Amby is bound to get a facelift this is the first time 2011 Ambassador posing for some snaps. According to the person who spotted the New Ambassador, the upcoming version is very much similar to current variant and a  different boot lid.

The major modification has been done in the rear, the trunk is now shortened. Other than that,  we are unable to spot more changes except a slightly modified  steel bumper and a repositioned  fuel lid. As we reported in our previous post, New Ambassador will be coming with a new heart and  a chopped off trunk to fit itself into our small car segment to avail 10% excise duty benefit. The tail lamps are  similar to the current model but once we go into details we can differentiate it from previous variants.

Some information from our previous posts.

“The new Amby will have a retro design and sport cutting-edge engineering to compete on comfort and value for money. Overseas experts have been roped in for the metamorphosis. The new version will be ready by January-February 2011 for test trials and is expected to undergo validation by May so that commercial production can begin next July,” said CK Birla official.

“The new car will be a sibling of the Ambassador but the change will be so holistic that it will be a completely different vehicle. Apart from the new-look retro exterior, the interiors will be revamped. It will be powered by BS IV-complaint and BS V-ready 1.5 litre and 2 litre diesel as well as petrol engines that are powerful and fuel-efficient. Overseas technology firms are working on each aspect of the car to ensure the vehicle is on a par with contemporary vehicles on Indian roads in terms of built quality and reliability,” said Manoj Jha, MD HM.

But we think the overall design of HM Ambassador  has been left untouched. It seems HM  did  the facelift exercise in house thus saved a decent amount of money. The launch of new Ambassador will happen by mid of 2011.
