New Maruti Suzuki Swift finally made it’s maiden appearance in Indian road. Autocar India’s reader captured new Maruti Suzuki Swift 2011 in New Delhi. The facelifted Swift though dimensionally bigger than outgoing model, it is very difficult to point out the differences. In the front new Swift comes same nose as that of existing model, but with a bigger headlights and a slightly modified bumper.
While in rear 2011 Swift got a pair for tail lamp with a nice combination of red and clear lens. The changes in new Suzuki Swift mainly limited to interiors, where Suzuki tried to address cramped interiors in the rear bench. The wheelbase has been stretched by 50mm and an increment of 90mm in overall length. Under bonnet hood 2011 Suzuki Swift has a 1.2L petrol engine with Dual VVT (Variable Valve Timing) on both intake and exhaust valves produces 92bhp @ 6000rpm. The maximum torque is 87lb ft at 4800rpm. The new Swift is rated at 20+km/l in the European cycle while emitting just 116g/km CO2. Suzuki will also launch a tweaked 1.3L diesel engine that will cut emissions down to just 109g/km and return an impressive 24+km/l. But there is not much details available about engine options in Indian edition of new Swift.
Other than above mentioned features 2011 Suzuki Swift is packed with many safety features, like seven air bags, ABS and ESP across all range. Considering the major improvements in safety front Euro NCAP awarded five starts to New Swift.
Looking at the equipment list and features in new Swift, we think it’s going to continue ruling long waiting periods as it’s current variant doing.
The new Swift is expected to hit Indian shores in the next few months but there is no official word from Maruti Suzuki yet. We expect the New Maruti Swift in India before April – 2011. So stay tuned to Wheelosphere for more updates.
