Yamaha India launches YZF R15 V2.0 @ Rs.1.07 lakhs

Yamaha India finally  launched  the new  version of their premium motorcycle offering  YZF R15. The new R15 is labeled as  Yamaha FZF R15 V2.0 comes with a mouthwatering price tag (Rs.1.07 lakh, ex-showroom  New Delhi). The front fascia of new R15 looks similar to it’s predecessor  but the rear is completely new. The LED fitted tail lamp and split seats are major changes need to be mentioned. The side fairing too under gone slight modification. There are three  color options available,  Racing Blue,Midnight Black & Sunset Red colors.

Yamaha YZF R15 V2.0

The  Yamaha R15 V2.0 runs on a pair of new wheels. The front has a 90/80 section tyre, whereas the rear runs on a 130/70 section tyre. The new 5 spoke alloy looks much better than outgoing model. There are small changes in dimensions as well.  The overall length  has been reduced by few millimeters, 1970mm from 1995mm where as height and width remain same. The seat height have been lifted by 10 mm (from 790mm to 800mm). The new Yamaha R15 weighs 136kg which is  5kg more compared to existing model. More importantly the wheelbase has been stretched  to 1345mm from the outgoing  bike’s 1290mm.

According to Yamaha India, the combination of  extended wheel base and rear up and shorter front arrangement will give a much better riding position for R15 V2.0 rider.

The power house is  same 150 cc, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, fuel injected engine which produces 17 PS of power at 8500 RPM and 15 Nm of torque at 7500 RPM. The engine is mated  to a six speed  manual gear box , which is again a carry forward from current model.

The cosmetic and mechanical changes make  Yamaha YZF R15 V2.0 a very capable,  premium offering in it’s segment. Let us see how our motorcycle enthusiasts respond to it..
