What you see here could be the possible replacement for the present generation Porshe Cayenne and the upcoming mini-Cayenne to compete with the Mercedes GLK, X1/X3 and Audi’s upcoming Q3. The renderings show a good evolution of the present Cayenne while the baby’s renderings are quite imposing and bold.
We arent quite sure of the class the baby-Cayenne will compete with for now but since Porsche announced that the next-gen Cayenne would be smaller than the out going version, the baby will definitely be even smaller and would likely compete with the Q3 and X1. It will differ in its 4X4 capability and is expected to offer more than its competitors in this respect.
The Cayenne gets sharper detailing and the side profile is very similar to the X3 if the renderings are anything to go by. Nothing of such sort for the baby Cayenne though. It looks the part and is in my opinion, the best looking SUV, if you were to make one looking similar to the 911.
The front looks sharper and so is the rear. The twine exhausts too look specially appealing. The front makes it more of a beach buggy than an SUV.
Porsche could possibly even share the platforms with Audi thereby reducing work and development needed in designing a new platform. This would also help it get into production earlier. We predict a 2012 India launch for the next-gen cayenne followed by the mini a year or two later.
