The Ford Endeavour is actually based on the Ford Ranger pickup truck that is sold in Thailand and various other countries in Asia. Ford even launched the pickup in India but later discontinued it in India as it hardly sold any. However, the Endeavour, also built on the same ladder on frame chassis as the Ranger has been a big success for Ford. It has been a strong seller for the last five to six years and still continues to average around 200 units per month. The sales would have been better if the Toyota Fortuner hadn’t come in the way.
Ford facelifted the Endeavour twice but most of the car largely remained the same. The car is coming close to the end of its lifecycle and an all new Ranger/Endeavour is in works, possibly for a launch in late-2011. These are the first renderings of the new Ranger and we can easily feel how the Endeavour would look – just add a third row of windows over the Ranger. The car retains its humongous presence that has been a USP of the Endeavour. While we cannot comment on the vehicle’s styling as this is just a rendering, it does show a path that Ford could take with the new Endeavour.
