We had reported earlier that the next-gen Honda Civic has been delayed by a year. These are a set of renderings that show how the next-gen Civic coupe might look and expect similar styling to be carried forward to the sedan model as well. Honda needs to rush its Civic program especially since it has been constantly losing market share to rivals. The rendering takes forward the present model’s sharp design into a modern avatar with the rear resembling the Honda CR-Z Hybrid somewhat. We are not sure whether this is anywhere close to the real deal but if you wish to know what is going on at Honda, hit the jump.
Honda is presently going through a bad patch in India with sales dropping to a low. All of its models lost market share in the last few months and this can be attributed to the increasing competition from all corners of the market. The Jazz is under fire from the newly launched Ford Figo and Volkswagen Polo, both of which are doing exceptionally well in the market. The CR-V and Civic are literally off the radar, thanks to the Fortuner and Altis while the Accord is keeping up although the Superb has raced ahead. The initial excitement that was offered by the Civic seems to have worn off, while the Altis is a newer model.
Honda’s lack of diesel engines has hit them hard. The Civic and CR-V need diesels, more so when you consider the fact that the Altis will come with a diesel option in just a couple of months. So Honda, we hope you are listening and do something about it.
