Nissan All Electric LEAF finally comes to the crowd.Nissan’s electric dreams were discussed much before too.Today LEAF,the all electric car from Nissan made a public appearance along with Mr.Carlos Ghosn,CEO, Nissan.The special appearance ceremony of LEAF was held at Tokyo,Japan.The price details of Nissan LEAF is yet to be announced.
LEAF is a stylish refreshingly cool five door hatchback which can easily accommodate four persons.The power house is a synchronous AC motor which can develop 80kw at peak.This drive motor is powered by a cache of lithium-ion batteries.The battery unit all put together can develop 90kw.Nissan has managed to accommodate the battery box below the floor thus LEAF can be stable at high speeds.
Nissan claims fully charged LEAF can clock 100 miles before getting battery drained.Nissan said LEAF can be charged from both domestic(220VAC) and exclusive charge points(3ph440AC).In the first case it will take 16hours to get the battery fully charged,by using an exclusive charging station you can recharge the battery within 30mins(yeah we wrote correctly).
LEAF’s pricing strategy is yet to be known.But Nissan officials said the pricing is very competitive when comparing with an internal combustion engine variants.The commercial launch of LEAF may happen by end of 2010.So let us see how Nissan LEAF can add leaves to electric car crowd.
