Nissan India’s much awaited entry level sedan, Sunny (project code :-L02B) is called Almera in Thailand. Nissan had launched this new C-Segment sedan in China as Nissan Sunny. Sunny is a known name in Chinese market, the brand Nissan Sunny was present in China for a long time and before seven years Nissan discontinued the brand there. Almera again another Nissan brand came in to picture to replace Sunny in Thailand market.
During the launch of V-Platform based sedan in China. Nissan officials had said that this new sedan will bear different names as the location changes. Nissan may launch Almera in Thailand by Q3 of 2011.
The Sunny/Almera sedan is powered by a HR15DE 1.5 litre engine with dual injectors and is mated to the new-generation Xtronic CVT transmission in China. According to Autoincar, Thailand markets will receive new Almera with a 1.2 ltr engine to benefit from government’s Eco-car program.
Mr. Kiminobu Tokuyama, Managing Director & CEO, Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. (NMIPL) said, “Following the success of our first locally made car –the Nissan Micra, we are happy to reveal the first visuals of the second car to be produced in India. We are confident that the “New Global Sedan”, which is also based on the versatile ‘V’ platform, will delight the discerning Indian customers. The model will be launched in India in the second half of 2011.”
The specifications of Indian version of this new Global sedan are awaited. We expect the launch of Nissan Micra sedan/Almera will happen before 2011 Diwali. Stay subscribed to get more information.
