Autoincar have managed to spot this picture of India bound Nissan Micra at Thailand. The picture is low resolution one and there is nothing much to infer from it. However, the interior quality and styling seems to be much better looking in the real vehicle than in the studio pictures released at its launch. For the first time, we can see the manual AC controls. Moreover, this seems to be the mid-range model that sports an integrated audio system but misses out on climate control and steering-mounted buttons.
The all black colour does looks very dull. With many manufacturers offering different colour upholstery on their vehicles, the absence of this on the Micra certainly does not live up to its premium tag as Colin Dodge has revealed. Even the presence of silver finish does little to mask the vast dark area. On behalf of Indians, we would also like to add this – We do not mind paying if a car is loaded and worth every penny but if it is the opposite, then its the perfect formula for disaster.
Carlos Ghosn will inaugurate Renault-Nissan’s plant at Oragadam in Chennai next week. A press conference is scheduled too. Nissan will launch the Micra sometime in June-July at a slightly premium asking price (Colin Dodge’s comments). While Nissan might get away with this, we are not sure if the car will have any chance of clocking decent numbers if it is priced on par/above that of the Polo. Lets see if India is top priority for Nissan or if it is just a low cost venue for exports. Time will tell.
