Sunny, the upcoming sedan is hitting headlines again. Last week we had published specifications and interior shots of this upcoming low cost sedan from Nissan. Now Jokeforblog has published a set of sketches of this new sedan (Sunny, code name :-L02B). Though the author of the website has not made any claim about authenticity of the images, it appears to be patent drawings of Nissan Sunny.
Our readers must remember that last year we had published a set of sketches of Nissan Micra hatchback. Incidentally the final product has close resemblance to those images. So this time too the same may repeat. Sunny, is being developed on Nissan’s V-platform which will be launched in many markets including India. Nissan Sunny may make it’s first public appearance during upcoming Guangzhou Autoshow 2010 scheduled for second week of December 2010.
Nissan Sunny will be fighting against products like, Renault Logan, Toyota Yaris and Toyota Vios. But the overall dimensions are at par with Honda City sedan. So the high end models may stand as an option for future Honda City buyers. Nissan Micra Sedan will be replacing their Tiida Latio in many markets.
The Nissan Micra hatchback and sedan siblings will be sharing engines. Current 1.2ltr gasoline engines and 1.5dCi diesel engines will find a place under bonnet hood of Nissan Sunny too.
The India launch of Nissan Micra Sedan may happen in first half of 2011. But production of Sunny will be commencing in Nissan India’s Chennai plant by end of this year.
On paper Nissan Sunny looks like a great product and not just another box attached hatchback. Stay tuned to Wheelosphere for more updates.
