The new Polo, launched on February 32 has garnered over 5000 confirmed bookings. The new people’s VW for India has received amazing response and we seem to be getting tired each time we say this. The situation was pretty much the same with the Beat, the Figo and now the Polo. Hatchbacks are witnessing immense surge in sales in India. Initially announced at Rs 4.34 for the base 1.2L petrol, VW revised the prices that now start at Rs 4.42 lakhs Ex-Showroom for the base petrol. VW’s strong 42 dealers across India have definitely done their job exceedingly well. The guys at Nissan are up next with the Micra.
Neeraj Garg, member of the board and director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Volkswagen Group Sales India, was quoted as saying to a couple of business dailies, “Polo is having a waiting period of about three-four months currently and we are ramping up the production of to meet the demand accordingly. We have confirmed bookings of 5,000 units of the Polo, with 500 units already delivered. The response towards our car line up especially with the New Polo has really reiterated the trust and confidence that our brand and importantly our products have been able to build up in a short span of time. We are extremely delighted to witness such response from our customers. We are confident to live up to all our customer expectations not only by way of delivering superior products but also by providing them with best in class services.”
The Polo’s sharp lines and luxury feel has hit a chord among buyers. The Polo offers a perfect blend of practicality, style, luxury and economy. It is the first true VW that is accessible to a larger audience in India. Both the petrol and the diesel are 1.2L, both produce 75bhp and both are offered in 3 variants – Trendline, Comfortline and Highline. Sporting several unique features like standard tilt-steering and remote auto down windows on the top model. Competing with the likes of the Swift, i20 and Jazz, the Polo is the new trendsetter in India.
