Earlier this year Renault India had disclosed their plans for our market. According to the timeline, Koleos SUV launch was scheduled for October 2011 but yesterday Renault unveiled Koleos in India. Just hours later a Team-BHP forum member,JRAJE caught this Renault Modus test mule from Chennai roads. Renault Modus is a mini MPV offering debuted in international market in 2004.
Modus shares it’s platform with Renault Clio, Nissan’s Micra too built on it’s platform. Renault Modus measure’s 3790mm in length, 1695mm in width and 1590mm in height and comes with five door configuration. There is another variant of Modus in the market under Modus Grand banner. The Modus Grand is 160mm longer than modus. The over all length of 4034 mm of Modus Grand will disqualify it for Indian market.
Under the hood Modus can accommodate 1.2ltr, 1.4ltr or 1.6ltr gasoline engine or a 1.5dCi oil burner. The engine may get a five speed manual gear box in our market. The upper variant may get a six speed auto box as well. Modus comes with an unique feature, adjustable rear bench which allow to adjust the luggage space to suit various requirement.
Renault is making Modus in Valladolid, Spain for international markets. Renault India will be manufacturing Modus in their Chennai plant. Renault may show Modus to Indian enthusiasts during 2012 New Delhi Auto Expo. Pricing hold the key for Modus’s Indian innings.
