Renault India is expected to unveil an all new small car in New Delhi on 29th of this month. The all new hatchback (code: B58) is developed on Nissan’s V-platform and will be branded as Renault Pulse. Renault’s super boss Mr. Carlos Ghosn will unveil this premium hatchback during Indian GP scheduled to happen this weekend.
Renault Pulse will get both the engines from it’s Japanese cousin Nissan Micra. There will be a 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine on offer. Both the engines will be tuned to have similar power and torque figures as of Nissan Micra. Overall dimensions of Nissan Micra and Renault Pulse are expected to be similar. Renault Pulse will have a different styling in the front and rear. But the dashboard of Micra and Pulse will have common elements. Renault’s engineers will fit a new design steering wheel in Pulse. The suspension of Renault Pulse will be taken care by a combination of MacPherson struts at the front and a torsion beam at the rear.
Renault Pulse will have all features that a premium hatchback buyer looking for. The feature list will include driver and passenger airbags and ABS, climate control, keyless entry and start, and steering mounted controls etc.
Renault Pulse will be manufactured in Nissan’s Orgadam, Chennai plant.
Renault will position Impulse in premium hatchback segment, ie above Nissan Micra. Renault’s second innings in Indian pitch is yet to get a good start. After announcing their solo entry in Indian market, the French auto major has already launched two products in the recent past. But both of them are still struggling to cross 100-200 mark. Pulse is Renault India’s third product. So what do you think ? Will Pulse survive in this very competitive B- Segment ?
