Fiat Uno was a good selling midsize car in India. It clocked good sales figures for Fiat India but could not continue the run, thanks to the troubles between the partners, Fiat India and Premier Automobile Limited(PAL). This car was a talk in town for years, unfortunately Fiat Uno faced extinction in India and Fiat finally wound up Uno sales in India. Even now things are same in India, in their second spell also Fiat is keeping mum about Uno’s future here. But the picture is bit different in Fiat’s home land Italy. They are all set to launch the revamped Uno (Code:-327) there.
The all new Fiat Uno is full of freshness. They stripped traditional body style and grown big by taking Fiat Panda’s base. The power house could be a 1.0 or 1.4 ltr FIRE engines initially further options will be added during long run. The latter engine we have already seen in Fiat Grande Punto. 2010 Fiat Uno will be redesigned to meet the requirements of all class of customers interms of interiors and stylings.
New Fiat Uno(327) is scheduled for launch in Italy by end of next year. We will be covering this small but resourceful car’s further journey. So stay tuned to Wheelosphere.
So what we (Indian customers) missed ? a powerful yet fuel efficient small car known for its excellent safety features! Let us see whether Fiat and Tata Joint Venture will bring New Fiat Uno to India too!

that is one ugly car (:
Bob,
Is Uno that ugly? Unfortunately we don’t think so!!
Fiat Tata alliance should act fast.Faster the action faster will be death for suzuki india. Fiat should bring their 1 litre 100 bhp 22kmpl engine which is being sold in Brazi and this should be fitted on all Tata -Fiat small to midside cars with diff gear ratios to match the torque ratingsl
Good business plan Sumathra, unfortunately we can not completely agree with your view point. We don’t believe Tata – Fiat alliance can really harm Suzuki in India. VW-Suzuki alliance will be much stronger than Tata-Fiat association, this is our take on the scenario.
But we agree the fact Fiat knows the business, but they should use it wisely.
Sumathra has a point, which the higher strata of the Fiata and TATA so called managers would find hard to MANAGE!!! They would be busy trying hard to please their corporate warlords. What they should actually be doing is find better ways to bring in benefits to the company. Fiat Uno, one of the best cars that Indian roads have ever seen was phased out due to the lack of management tactics. First of all they had the best diesel engine in their kitty, of course they used it well. But, they failed to put a crowd-pulling price tag to that diesel engine. Styling and bad pricing killed the lad even before he could have his best days. Fiat should accept the fact that Uno was over-priced, which kept the customers way at safe distances. To add fuel to the fire Fiat could not come up with face-lifted versions even after sensing danger. If Fiat really wants to build a brand value in India, they should follow the foot steps of VW. A bit of sacrifice and patience will surely pay off in a big way in the time that follows.
@ Jijo,
Great piece of advice. We completely agree with you. Fiat may do sufficient ground work before they bring their next small car to India.
Yes. I agree with the above statement.
Fiat should bring the new latest UNO in India and I am sure
they will be most successful in that segment.
But they should go alone?
