Recent news out of Spain suggests that the All American US F1 team wont be able to make it to the starting grid for the opening race in Bahrain in March. Moreover, the team’s chances of making it to the next two races are also in question. Moreover, the above statement could hold valid when you consider this – one of the team’s principle backers, YouTube founder Chad Hurley has pulled his support from the Formula One upstart and that Brian Bonner, a former IndyCar driver and the team’s head of business development, is no longer working for the firm, taking a co-director position at B4 Marketing. With double blows, we are not sure what the status at US F1 is.
Although there has been no official news from the team for a long time barring the announcement of Argentinian touring car sriver Jose Maria Lopez as one of their drivers. The lack of a suitable driver for the second car and problems over sponsor Youtube Hurley considering sponsoring Stefan GP or Campos Meta doesnt help US F1 either. Finally, there has been recent news of US F1’s headquarters being put on sale. Moreover, Bernie Eccelstone predicted that the team could run into trouble which is what seems to have happened now.
We are waiting for an official announcement though. If US F1 dont make it, Stefan GP could get the possible final slot for the 2010 grid, much to their happiness.
