In continuation to our yesterday’s story of Skoda Superb Combi 4×4 launch in UK, today we have two interesting stories of downsized Octavia. Skoda Auto launched 1.2ltr TSI Octavia in UK along with 1.6ltr TDI Octavia variant. Both the variants got DSG gearbox to optimise the driving performance on busy roads.
The 1.2ltr TSI engine is coupled with two different gearbox options, one six speed manual box and the other a seven speed DSG gearbox. 1.2ltr Skoda Octavia is available in both hatchback and estate body styles. This engine we seen in Skoda Yeti initially and proved it’s on and off road capabilities before getting selected to power up Octavia. This turbo charged engine can develop 105bhp at peak. Though engine is small in pot size, it can take a fully loaded Octavia body to 100km/hr speed within 10.8 sec.
Now in diesel version, though the 1.6ltr TDI engine is available in current Skoda Octavia models, the power mill got an all new seven speed DSG gear box to thrill the driver. This engine powered Skoda Octavia hatchback and estate options are available.
In India Skoda Auto marked their entry to India with Octavia and it was a remarkable car launch. Will Skoda Auto India will bring these down sized engines to Indian markets? We have to wait and see.
