Few days before Wheelosphere had reported about Skoda’s plans to get a new brand identity. At that point of time the image of upcoming (speculated) Skoda was not refined and looked very raw. Now we have an image new Skoda logo, which is a polished version of the image featured in our previous post. The concept is same as we explained. The comments we received on that post are not a good sign for upcoming logo. Again this is an unofficial sketch, so we should wait until the official version emerges.

I think that the hysterically negative comments were about this sketch:

which I hated, too. Note that the main, graphical part of the picture was completely changed, the half-wing occupied 1/2 of the disk only. It looks like a damaged cap from a pet bottle.
I am convinced that there is no problem with the logo above if it is real. No one really cares whether “Škoda Auto” is written around the picture. These letters are not part of the traditional Škoda logo, anyway. Removing the letters allows the logo to be bigger and more visible which is, I think, a good step – fortunately a small one.
Škoda Yeti also used another new variation of the logo

which is less artistic and more technological but I actually liked it, too. I wouldn’t mind if that simplified logo became the official one, either. But the pet-bottle destruction of the very half-wing was just disgraceful – it looked like a deliberate attempt of someone at Volkswaven to destroy the brand.
