Skoda Rapid made it’s global debut through a television show. NDTV Car and Bike Show managed to preview Skoda Rapid Sedan to the world ahead of it’s commercial launch scheduled to happen in November. As we reported earlier Skoda has already started manufacturing of Rapid Sedan in VW Group’s Pune factory. Skoda Rapid will get engines (1.6ltr Diesel and Petrol) from VW Vento and a five speed manual and six speed auto box.
In the recent past Skoda’s C-Segment offering Rapid has been emerged as a hot discussion topic among automobile media. The Fabia based sedan was earlier known as Skoda Felicia but later speculated as Skoda Lauretta. But this entry level sedan offering with Fabia like front and Skoda Laura like rear is now officially labeled as Skoda Rapid. Skoda cars are known for their attractive styling, in Rapid as well Skoda managed to bring a stylish sedan without making any ground breaking design attempts. The front with Skoda’s signature grille is very familiar to us, the side profile resembles to VW Vento but looks curvier. In the rear, tail lamps shows Skoda’s design style. Like other Skoda sedans C – shape is very much visible.
Skoda Rapid looks like a plane sedan which mainly intended to attract entry level sedan buyers. Rapid may emerge as a crowd puller if Skoda prices it well. But what we need to wait and see is, how equipped are Skoda’s dealerships to handle such a high volume product? Skoda is expected to price Rapid base model from little excess of Rs.7.5 lakhs and the top end variant may come closer to Rs.10 lakh mark.
The unveiling of Skoda Rapid brings few questions to our minds. Can Skoda Rapid ever replace old Skoda Octavia? will Skoda bring an all new sedan based on Skoda MissionL concept to replace Octavia ..? Too early to answer them so stay subscribed to get more clarifications from official source.
