Chevrolet Cruze hatchback was debuted during this year’s Paris Motor Show. Hatchback program of successful Cruze sedan is taking it’s next step in product development process. These are the images of test mule of 2012 Chevrolet Cruze hatchback caught on road. The front of Cruze hatchback is bare (ofcourse there is no point in hiding it) clearly tell us I am the hatchback sibling of Cruze. But Chevrolet does not want to show the rear, any surprises awaiting? let us wait and see. We saw the concept’s tail end was aerodynamic and very beautiful. Hope Chevrolet will continue the same concept.
The overall dimensions of the Cruze hatchback look same as that of the prototype shown in Paris. The hatchback avatar of Chevrolet Cruze is being developed by GM’s Australian arm Holden. Cruze hatch will be hitting various parts of world, starting from Europe in 2012. Though Chevrolet has indicated about the launch of Cruze hatchback in Asia-Pacific region, we have no clue about it’s Indian arrival.
Under bonnet hood, Cruze hatchback will share same engines with it’s notchback sibling. Two petrol engines and one diesel engine will be doing duty in Cruze hatchback. The base model will be propelled by a 1.6ltr gasoline engine which will generate 112hp useful power while the second engine (1.8ltr) can churn out 140hp. The 2.0ltr turbo diesel motor can offer another 10horse power extra with maximum torque of 320Nm. Both auto and manual transmission options will be available during launch.
If we look at the trunk of other hatches Cruze hatchback will be an exception. The available spy image shows Cruze hatch will have plenty of space for storing luggage (may not be equal to sedan) without compromising occupants comfort.
