Suzuki Alto Launched In Australia

Suzuki Alto is A-Star in India, we hope most of you will aware of this fact. Now Suzuki launched  Alto in Australian market.Even though last year Maruti launched A-Star in India it could not pick sales as expected but A-Star a.k.a Alto is a part of Suzuki’s global vehicle program. So if Alto/A-Star fails in one  market still it Suzuki can test  the success in many other markets.

Suzuki Alto A-Star Launch in Autstralia

Suzuki A-Star’s  Australian avatar is being manufactured in India. The engine configuration looks similar to it’s Indian sibling. The  K-Series 1.0ltr engine that can develop maximum power of 50Kw and 90Nm torque at peak.

Alto GL, the base model is coming with many safety features.Six air bags,Anti-Lock braking system,Electronic Balance Distribution system,Electric front windows, remote control door locks, air conditioner and music system with auxiliary input. The second variant Alto GLX adds many features like Electronic Stability Control, front fog lamps, body coloured exterior mirror, tachometer, six speakers surround sound system, driver seat height adjustment system and alloy wheels.Surprisingly a feature that included in Australian A-Star, an auto box in drive line. Maruti Suzuki never offered an auto box variant of A-Star  to  Indian customers, may be due to pricing feasibility.

Suzuki Alto Australia Price List

Suzuki Alto GL the base model comes with a price tag of $12,490(INR 4,99,000)

Suzuki Alto GLX model adds another $2,000 i.e. $14,490(INR 5,80,000)

Suzuki Alto with auto transmission needs another $2,000(INR 80,000) for both GL and GLX models

Alto of course a fuel efficient car in small car segment.Suzuki claims the fuel efficiency  approximately 16.0Km/ltr but some customers reported figures that well above the manufacturers claims. But fuel efficiency could not save A-Star from falling sales figures, may be the space limitations and  many all new design features seems  not went well with Indian customers. We had a short review of Maruti A-Star before.Australians initially happy with the fuel economy and other features but not happy with the performance and space.Let us see how our Made In India A-Star performs as Alto duty there.
