Suzuki Motorcycles launched a new scooter and a motorcycle in New Delhi. The Suzuki Swish scooter is based on Suzuki Access 125cc scooter platform. Swish is priced at Rs 45,431 (ex-showroom New Delhi) and will be available in Suzuki dealerships from March 2012. With the launch Swish Suzuki Motorcycle may wants to grab a larger pie of the growing Indian scooter market.
Suzuki Swish’s 124cc, four-stroke single-cylinder engine derives 8.58bhp at 7000rpm and a max torque of 1kgm at 5000rpm. Swish comes with automatic transmission similar to Honda Activa. Suzuki Swish runs on a set of 10” front and rear wheels with drum brakes. While front is supported by a telescopic suspension system, the rear gets a conventional hydraulic shock absorber. Company aims to attract more youth towards Swish.
Suzuki Motorcycles is in the process of strengthening their dealership network and increasing production capacity.
“We have already invested Rs 400 crore. The total investment which is going into the new products and capacity expansion is about Rs 100 crore,” said Atul Gupta, Sr V.P, Sales and Marketing, Suzuki Motorcycles India Pvt Limited.
