Porsche has revealed the next-gen Cayenne before its debut in Geneva. This comes after leaked pictures that emerged online yesterday. This is the third generation model with and still comes with its own love-or-hate looks although this time its better looking than the older generations. Still it isn’t the best looking SUV. While the older versions looked like raised 911s, this one resembles a raised Panamera, especially around the headlamps. Like the previous generations, the Turbo version will be visually more aggressive compared to the rest of the lineup. The big news for Porsche is the introduction of the Hybrid Cayenne, a first for Porsche as it uses the firm’s first ever parallel full hybrid drive system.
The hybrid gets a 3.0L Supercharged V6 with 380bhp and 427lb-ft of torque mated to a 47hp electric motor. All of the 427lb-ft of torque is available practically from idle (1000rpm). Porsche say that the Cayenne S Hybrid is capable of driving up to 40 mph solely using electric assist, and the gasoline engine can be completely switched off at cruising speeds up to 155 km/h. Official fuel efficiency figures will be available once the new Cayenne goes on sale.
More details, pictures, Press release and dune bashing video after the jump.
