Nano Europa will be sold in India

The cheapest car in the world, the Tata Nano currently on sale in India will hit Europe and USA in 2012. The present Nano won’t meet any regulations abroad which is why a thoroughly re-engineered version of the Nano, called the Europa is under work to comply to the strict European and Federal regulations. The Europa as visible from the pictures not only looks stylish but will sport lots of bells and whistles. It will cost more too. For those who thought that Indians will be deprived of the Europa, or the so called luxury version of the Nano, Tata motors have just announced that they are looking at the possibility of launching the Europa in India as well.

The 'Desi' Nano

The Nano Europa will get a thoroughly stiffened body-shell which will help it meet stringent crash tests. To house large Americans and Europeans, the wheelbase will be made longer. Power will come from an all new 800cc three cylinder aluminium engine mated to a five speed manual gearbox or an automatic. It will be highly fuel efficient and emit less than 100g/km CO2. Interiors will get a complete makeover as well. In addition to the above, the Europa will get ABS, Airbags, power steering and disc brakes. The Europa will be a massive step above the normal Nano and will naturally come at a higher price. Expect the Europa to cost at least Rs 30,000 over the current Nano when it goes on sale in 2012.

“Yes, there is a chance of Tata Motors launching the Nano Europa in the Indian market as well,”. “It will have several additional features like a more powerful engine, power steering, airbags, ABS as well as higher structural strengths,”.
