Tata Motors has a reason to smile, the RDW (The Department of Road Transport, Netherlands) cleared the little wonder Nano for advanced certification processes. The certifying authority of Netherlands is satisfied with Tata Nano’s braking, steering, locks and hinges and fuel related performance. But it is not the final clearance for the car for launching in Netherlands, Nano will be examined further to verify car’s performance in all other departments. But the government authority concluded that Tata Nano is technically capable to debut in Netherlands roads.
Some vital information like the strength of the anchorages and seat belts were not available during the certification process and the RDW highlighted some missing elements like rear fog lamp, left, shining lights/reflectors and rear view mirror on left side (As Tata Nano is right hand driven car, these short comings are understood). Tata Nano will undergo final certification process within a month or so.
Tata Motors has set 2013 as the target for Tata Nano’s European debut. Tata Nano has already passed Euro-NCAP crash test. Netherlands authority’s green flag to world’s cheapest car will make it’s European debut possible very soon.
