Tata formulates plans to sell Nano within the group

Tata Nano, the much discussed small car has not been a super hit in Indian and international market. In initial days fire incidents pulled Nano sales to all time low but later it recovered to 10,000 units monthly sales level. But the sales did not sustained in that level and plunged almost 50 percent. Sensing the trouble Tata Motors is now planning to push their small baby within the group. Tata group employs more than 2 lakhs persons in India and company is currently formulating plans to sell Nano to them via special schemes.

Tata-Nano

The limited period special schemes include discounts on prices and special goodies. Tata Consultancy Services, India’s top software exporter was the first Tata Group company to receive the discounted  Nanos. Tata Motors offered  Rs. 25,000 cash discount on  top end variant of  Nano. The Nano sold to TCS employees was termed as a ‘TCS edition’. In addition to all regular goodies, Tata Nano TCS Edition had  a signature of Tata Group Chairman Ratan Tata, near the instrument console. Tata Motors said the special promotion lasted for ten days and  witnessed an overwhelming response from the group employees.

“From time to time, on all our products, we work with sister companies in the group to create exciting offers for colleagues and their families, just like we do for our own colleagues,” a Tata Motors spokesperson said.

“As for the Tata Nano specifically, as for any prospective customer, it is equally an aspirational car for colleagues across the group. In the Tata Group, companies offer colleagues in other companies special offers on their products. As for the special offer on Tata Nano for TCS colleagues, the response incidentally has been overwhelming,” he further added.

Tata Steel, another prominent  company under Tata Group could be the next company to get special Nanos. So we will see, Tata Nano Tata Steel Edition very soon.

In addition to these in house initiatives Tata Motors is aggressively expanding dealership network and group’s financial services arm Tata Motors Finance is offering loans at reduced interest rates. Let us see how they will help Nano in long run.
