Tata Nano to shake competition from August

Tata Nano

Folks who have been waiting anxiously to get their Tata Nano can finally rejoice as the world’s cheapest car is set to go into direct sales from August. What it means is that there are no more forms to fill up and allotments to win. You can walk into any Tata showroom and get your Nano. Tata recently started production at the Nano’s mother plant in Sanand at the rate of 250,000 cars/annum meaning there is enough capacity to satisfy local demand. Only 35,000 Nanos ply on the road till  date.

Manoj Arora, Senior Manager, Tata Motors said “From this August or September, customers will be able to walk into our showroom and drive out in a Nano”

The Nano is finally free to do what it was set out to achieve – put India on wheels but it wont come cheap. Rising input costs and upgradation to Bharat Stage-4 means prices have gone up, but the exact amount will be revealed once the cars hit the showrooms. Stay tuned till then.
