Tata Motors is all set to join biggies league. After launching world’s cheapest car Nano, now Tata wants to make most expensive product in their portfolio. Tata is finally getting benefits from their expensive take over Jaguar – Land Rover (JLR), engineers from the British marquee will be assisting Tata engineers to develop this premium offering. As of now recently launched Aria crossover is the most expensive product from Tata Motors.
“Tata Motors has the wherewithal to enter the category. It could be seen in the context of a completely new branding strategy from the company,” an unidentified source said to FE. “One segment where we are going to see more cars from Tata Motors is the sedan category,” added the source. Not onl this premium sedan, many other sedan offerings are being piped for launch. A refurbished Tata Indigo would be the first followed by another sedan.
Though the price bracket of upcoming premium sedan is not known, it is expected to fall below Rs.25lakh. The latest development indicates Tata Motor’s business strategy, company’s ambition to become an end-to-end player who offer sub one lakh car to 25lakh premium car.
In Indian sedan car segment, premium car contribution is very low. It contributes only 2% of our total sedan car sales. But the figures may change in coming years, Tata may be getting themselves prepared for reaping benefits from such change.
