Indians will be treated well by Tata Motors on Independence day as they gear up to kick start bookings for the Nano. Thanks to the Sanand plant which is ready ahead of schedule, the Nano will be available to everybody from this Sunday. Tata Motors has already started accepting orders for the Nano in Kerala from August 3 to take advantage of the Onam season. The production at Sanand is being ramped up at a fast pace to keep up with demand. At its peak capacity, the Sanand plant can produce 20,000 Nanos a month from March 2011. Will 20,000 Nanos a month satisfy local demand? Once the Nano strikes the chord, we feel 20,000 might not be enough as the Alto is currently doing over 20,000 a month.
Let’s adopt the wait and watch strategy to see what Tata Motors does.
