Toyota Etios sedan launch is hours away, meanwhile another interesting story has been reported by Autocar India. Toyota’s first small car Etios hatchback variant christened Etios Liva. Toyota Etios Liva will hit Indian market by Q1 of F12. Toyota had previewed Etios hatchback variant during last New Delhi Auto Expo. Toyota will officially announce this name during it’s sedan sibling unveiling ceremony on 1-December-10 at Bangalore.
As we reported earlier, Etios Liva will be powered by a 1.2ltr gasoline engine which can deliver maximum power of 80bhp. A 1.4 diesel engine may soon join Etios sedan and hatch siblings. This engine is similar to 1.4ltr Variable Geometry Turbo (VGT) diesel engine which serving Toyota Corolla currently. But Etios duo will have to get satisfied by a fixed geometry turbo engine which can develop 70bhp at peak. The omission of 1.4 ltr VGT engine is to keep the price under control.
The Etios Liva, like Etios sedan will be lighter comparing to it’s peers. That will surely help Liva in our market as we are historically obsessed with fuel economy figures. Toyota Etios sedan has acres of space under the roof, Etios Liva too will have plenty of interior space to accommodate occupants and their belongings.
Now all eyes are eagerly waiting for World’s No.1 automaker’s low cost offering for developing nations.
