Spy shots of Toyota Fortuner Facelift (including rear)

Toyota Fortuner, the hot selling SUV is bound to get a facelift. Our friends at IAB published an article featuring spy shot of front fascia of facelifted Toyota Fortuner. From the spy shot available, it is evident that a major facelift will happen in front. A new grille and headlights combination will make the new Fortuner similar to other Toyota SUV’s  Land Cruiser Prado and 200. The new Toyota Fortuner will sport a completely redesigned front bumper with a set of new fog lamps.

We have an additional image of new Fortuner’s rear, which heavy taped to protect it’s visual changes. The tail lamps of new Fortuner sporting a new design and appears to be mounted in a lower position compared to current Toyota Fortuner. (But the repositioning of tail lamp clusters will force Toyota to retool their press. We doubt Toyota will  adopt this option considering the cost implication associated with this.)

The rear bumper  has been restyled and the rear bumper cover present in the out going model have been eliminated in upcoming model (this could be a variant specific change). The new Fortuner may have a new set of reflectors as well.

Toyota may display the facelifted Fortuner in upcoming IIMS scheduled to happen in Indonesia next month. In India Toyota Fortuner enjoyed monopoly in Rs. 20 lakh SUV segment until BMW X1 joined the race. We don’t think the Bavarian offering has really challenged Fortuner’s position in SUV segment.

As of now we don’t expect any changes in  power plant options. We may continue to spot the existing engines under the bonnet hood.

Should Toyota Kirloskar Motors bring the new Fortuner to our market as well..? Do share your opinion…
