The Camry has appealed to those with a penchant for comfort and style for a long time now. And Toyota has got good news for the all of them. The 2012 version of the sedan will be here in the earlier part of the next year and the facelifted version will lock horns with the Honda Accord. Toyota Kirloskar Motors has already started testing new Camry here. In India we may getting the global model of Camry which is slightly different from it’s Japanese and American variants.
The front fascia will be crafted to a more streamlined structure with sweeping shoulder lines and side hugging headlamps. The rear end will feature dual tail lamps that goes partly in to the boot lid. The car will retain its lengthy posture and will exuberate a elegant stance that is amplified with a lower ground clearance.
Although we cannot confirm, we can expect a MID(Multi-information Display), cruise control, steering mounted audio controls, USB and aux inputs. As is the trend with most luxury cars, we can be assured of driver aids like ESP, ABS, EBD, eight way adjustable driver seats and rain responsive wipers and several other alphanumeric abbreviations that need an entire terabyte for explanation.
The current version in priced at Rs. 21.60 lakhs and the facelifted version may cost anything between Rs. 22 lakhs to Rs. 25 lakhs. This will give it a slight edge over the Honda which is priced at Rs. 26.43 lakhs.
But the biggest question remains, will Toyota bring a diesel powered Camry to India? If the answer is NO, then will the Camry petrol variant be able to beat the competition ?
