V-Platform based 2011 Renault Clio

We have got hold of some realistic renderings of the next-gen Renault Clio which will be based on Nissan’s V-Platform and produced at the firm’s plant in Chennai. We are expecting a launch in end 2011 to early 2012. Renault will first concentrate on assembling and selling their Koleos and Fluence. On the brighter side, Renault will also setup its own distribution network in India to sell and service its range of models. The Logan however, will be marketed by Mahindra.

The next-gen Clio will share its underpinnings with the Nissan Micra and that will give huge economies of scale and help Renault position the Clio with a competitive price tag. The Clio will also borrow styling cues from its bigger borthers – The Megane.

We are also expecting more sharing in the form of parts and powertrains but we just hope Renault change the steering to make the Clio more of a driver’s car that the Micra isnt. Moreover, the V-Platform will also underpin a Micra based sedan and a mini-MPV, which if rumours are to be believed is a replacement to the Note.

Not much else is known at the moment but Renault is likely to export the Clio to various other markets from India. With a competitive pricing, a huge dose of style that Renault is famous for, the famed V-platform and a competitive price, the Clio has what it takes to storm to the top of the segment.  Nissan’s Micra better run for cover.
