Valentino Rossi impresses at the wheel of Ferrari’s F1 car

The Doctor a.k.a 9 time MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi has long wanted to show his domination in motorsports by switching from 2 wheels to 4. In an attempt to do it, he has completed a test for Ferrari F1 team in Barcelona as a reward for his latest MotoGP championship.

In the morning session, Rossi was able to manage just 2 laps and spun off on the second due to treacherous conditions. The track dried in the afternoon for Rossi to show hat he had and completed 68 laps in the 2008 Ferrari F1 car and managed a best time of 1m25.200s, which was less then 4 seconds off Kimi Raikkonen’s lap record.

“I’m happy,” said Rossi. “It was a good test, although it was wet in the morning and without grip I had some problems. Fortunately it dried off in the afternoon, I could use the slicks and improve my lap times.” While Ferrari boss Stefano Domenicalli has not ruled out employing Rossi on a full time basis if F1’s 3 car rule came into effect.

“There are talks about three cars,” he said. “This would be an interesting idea and an improvement for all involved in Formula One, especially with the possibility of Rossi at the wheel. You can never say never.”

Rossi has however indicated that his future after MotoGP was in Rallying and not F1. “When I finish with bikes, I might want to see some seasons in rallying,” said the 30-year-old. “F1 would’ve been easier but when I finish MotoGP I’ll be too old for F1.”

Looks like Rossi might just follow Kimi into rallying! Stay tuned for more updates
