Volkswagen(VW) confirmed the arrival of Polo Sedan and Hatchback variants in India by next year. This confirmation came during their manufacturing facility opening in Pune. Also these variants of Polo will be manufactured in this plant.
Volkswagen India’s this plant will be initially manufacturing the premium hatchback Fabia of Skoda, another Volkswagen group company.Polo will be the next product from this location.Volkswagen is betting big on India, the company even exploring the options of launching it’s commercial vehicle range in India.
VW have already launched the financial arm to assist it’s prospective customers in India.Volkswagen has already showed the India bound Polo in Geneva Motor Show in last month.Of course there will be lot of localisations and tuning to meet India specific requirement. The localisation will be much important in terms of controlling the price tag.
If VW launches Polo Sedan and Hatchback in India in next year, India will be the first country to get these two variants simultaneously. This plant is capable to make 1.1lacs units per annum. So how it will effect the customers,we excpect now VW group will cut the price of their premium hatch Fabia soon.

Polo is a damn good car.. Btw, do you have any news about the new Mitsubishi Evo 10 coming to India? I heard from Team BHP forums that it’s coming this year… The Evolution X is a 2 litre turbo petrol engine that delivers 294 BHP and 420Nm torque (There’re also variations that delivers up to 404 BHP. India might get the lowest end)
(And I shall twitter you a link…on how Honda – and many others – introduce featureless versions first, make money and then introduce features such as fog lamps, alloys etc later)
