VW had just released the details on the Polo GTi that will debut at the Geneva Motor Show and now we have news in the form of the CrossPolo that will make its debut as well. It is much like the Audi allroad and Skoda’s scout variants. It is the same Polo as we know it but with raised ride height to tackle bad roads (like India) and some plastic bits running throughout the vehicle to give it a rugged look and distinguish it from the normal Polo. Unlike Fiat’s Panda (which comes in a similar variant), the CrossPolo only comes in Front Wheel Drive.
The CrossPolo comes with a range of engines with power from 70bhp to 105bhp. Three petrol and three turbodiesel engines and the top variants of these models can be equipped with an optional 7-speed DSG gearbox. The CrossPolo gets uniquely styled bumpers with plastic padding running the entire perimeter of the car to prevent damage to its outer panels during off-roading. The wheels are huge 17inches. Even the insides follow the rugged theme with 2-tone interiors mirroring the gray outer panels, a black webbed structure for some of the trim, perforated leather on the steering wheel, and a metal finish for the pedals.
The Polo GTi and CrossPolo will debut on March 2 at the Geneva Motor Show.
