VW E-UP! Concept Unveiled

VW UP! is the outcome of VW’s strong ambitions to create a affordable small car.Now Volkswagen does not want to limit the possibility of this small car only within fossil fuel segment.VW E-UP! is the result of this thought process.Eventhough the unveiling of concept of E-UP! was scheduled for upcoming Frankfurt International Autoshow,VW unveiled this small electric car hours before the inauguration of  Autoshow event.

VW E-UP! is definitely is a bigger car atleast for Volkswagen AG.The petrol and diesel variant of UP! is expected to hit many markets by 2011 including India.Because VW has realized the fact that without a small car churning number in India is a tough task.The electric version of this small car will be coming to  reality by 2013.The car is not so small as it is written, the total length of e-UP! measures 3.19mtrs.The seating capacity of VW electric UP! is 4 persons(3+1 configuration).

This VW electric small car is powered by a small but powerful electric motor with 60KW maximum power output and 40KW  constant power output.The expected maximum speed of  E-UP! is 134km/hr and the maximum torque is a whopping 210N-Mtr. Up! Electric will take only 11.3 seconds to attain 100kms/hour speed from stand still.The power house is a bank of Lithium-Ion batteries with  total capacity of 18kwh.With fully charged battery one can clock 130kms with ease.

The reverse/forward  selection is by a knob as easy as in a toy car.The interiors looks great in concept image  and we have to wait three long years to see this small car in flesh.Let us wait and see whether VW will pursue this small electric car dream till then with this level of enthusiasm.If it is going to happen many developing market will get this car sooner or later.
